Harold Hastings Richardson, 1872-1944 was appointed County Clerk in 1893, and he continued in that role until his death, 51 years later.
Monday, 25 March 1935
Sent out notices of meetings.
Busy day – rates calculations etc.
Busy on ledgers and bank books, imprest accounts etc.
Office in evening.
Chairman* left for South Island on wapiti shooting exhibition.

Tuesday, 26 March 1935
Mair* went to Palmerston North.
Fowler* in office.
Miss Oldfield* absent from office – sick.
Taylor* in office.
Started checking electoral rolls with Brown*
Checking ledgers with Frank [Nichol]*.
Office in evening.
Miss Goodall, Secretary Rangitoto Rabbit Board, in office [in] afternoon getting the roll of the Board corrected to date.
Wednesday, 27 March 1935
Busy checking electoral rolls.
Adding up rates receipts, ledgering etc.
Paying accounts.
Court day. Fowler in office.
Office in evening, also Mair.
Urgent telegram in office.
Thursday, 28 March 1935
Busy at balance.
Checking electoral rolls.
Mair in office.
Smith and Sicely surveying County offices land.
Office in evening – accounts etc.
Rang Miss Goodall re Rabbit Board roll and election.
Friday, 29 March 1935
Mair in office with Brandt, […] Foreman re buildings and setting back building line.
Dukeson* in.
Fowler in.
Busy day [with] unemployed.
Balanced cash book
Brown balanced rates.
Office at work on time sheets.
Busy closing accounts.
Put £10,000 on fixed deposit for 3 months.
Office in evening perusing Gazettes etc.
Saturday, 30 March 1935
Closing accounts for financial year and unemployment
Mair went to Wanganui for the afternoon.

*Sydney Mair was County Engineer, retiring 1947. He began his employment with the County in 1899.

*Richard Dukeson was the County’s Overseer in the Southern part of the District
*Ken Waring Dalrymple was County Chairman 1929-1950. He was first elected to the County in 1917.
