Harold Hastings Richardson, 1872-1944 was appointed County Clerk in 1893, and he continued in that role until his death, 51 years later.
Mair* in, also Dukeson* and Webb and Stokes. Went into matter [of] their contract and arranged payment of wages.
Fowler in office.
Office in evening. H J Gould, Surveyor, called in re plan [of] Bruce Road.
Miss Oldfield back at office but has to return to hospital.
Lesley Jones sent in application for position of Assistant Clerk. Pahiatua gave him a testimonial.
Mair advised that the Committee of Council decided to recommend the acceptance of M & C Reynolds’ tender for sealing Bulls Turakina Main Highway.

Went to school function in afternoon and officially opened same.
Later went [to] Whangaehu Village. Heavy rain there but none in Marton.

Unemployment day. Busy with camp vouchers.
